Men's ELO Rankings 15/08/2016

As I have decided to update my ratings for the Olympics, despite the ATP not doing so, there will be 2 tournaments updated for this week, the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, and the ATP tournament in Cabo San Lucas.

The Big Gainer of the week this week is Juan Martin del Potro. After defeating the Upset player of the week (see below) in the Olympics, he went on to go all the way to the final, defeating Roberto Baustista Agut and Rafael Nadal, before getting the silver medal with a loss to Andy Murray. This run gave Juan Martin 60 ELO rating points, and he climbs 15 places in my rankings to #23.

This week's Upset player of the week is Novak Djokovic. The ELO #1 lost his opening match to the player who ended up as the Big Gainer of the week (see above). Any loss will make it likely that Novak wins this award, but when he loses in the opening round and loses 19 ELO rating points, it's guaranteed. He remains at #1, though the gap to the #2 is now only 65 points.

Other strong performers relative to their rankings are Pablo Carreno Busta, Thomaz Bellucci, Dusan Lajovic, Santiago Giraldo and Taro Daniel.
