Men's ELO Rankings 18/01/2016

As players prepare for the Australian Open which starts next week (1st round predictions post coming tomorrow), there were 2 tournaments on this week, in Auckland and Sydney.

The Big Gainer of the week award this week goes to Roberto Bautista Agut. He won the tournament in Auckland as the 8th seed, beating John Isner, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, and Jack Sock in the final. His wins gave Roberto 45 ELO rating points, and he climbs 5 places in my rankings to #12.

The Upset player of the week award this week goes to Steve Johnson. He was also at Auckland, but lost in the 1st round to a qualifier who was playing in his 1st ATP event since I started these rankings last year. The 13 ELO rating points lost as a result of this loss caused Steve to fall 3 places in my rankings to a new ranking of #30.

Other strong performers relative to their rankings are Victor Troicki, Teymuraz Gabashvili, Lukas Rosol and Nicolas Mahut.

Now, the full rankings: (side note: This will be the last week I rank Jarkko Nieminen, who retired at the end of the year.)
